FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Date: 25-10-2024
Astoria FC Triumphs 3-0 Over Real Mistake at Astoria Park
Astoria, NY - Astoria FC celebrated a commanding 3-0 victory against Real Mistake in front of their home crowd at Astoria Park. In a match marked by teamwork and clinical execution, the win reflects the growing momentum of the club as they continue to build under the leadership of new manager Limbo.
The breakthrough came early, with a goal in the 19th minute from Chul-Soon Pok, who capitalized on a well-placed corner from defender Clarindo Vasconcelos to fire Astoria FC into the lead. Vasconcelos, whose defensive acumen was equally impressive throughout the match, set up the goal that put the team ahead and provided an early boost.
The second goal came in the 36th minute when Benjamin Pressberg launched a stunning long-range shot, assisted by Torwald Fallbrink. Pressberg's strike doubled the lead, putting Astoria FC in control of the match before halftime.
Real Mistake suffered a setback in the 33rd minute when Ants Maasikamäe had to be substituted due to injury, being replaced by Volli Nõmme. Despite their efforts to regain footing, the third and final blow came in the 72nd minute, when Real Mistake's Eduard Lehes inadvertently scored an own goal, sealing the victory for Astoria FC.
Clarindo Vasconcelos was named Man of the Match, not only for his defensive work but for his critical involvement in the first goal. This match was a fitting send-off for Vasconcelos, who has announced his retirement at the end of the season after one year with the club.
"It was an outstanding team performance, and I couldn't be prouder of the way the players executed the game plan," said Limbo, Astoria FC's new manager. "This win shows the potential of our squad, and it's even more special considering Clarindo's involvement. His contributions to the club have been immense."
Nam-il Yeom, who played a key role in bringing Limbo to Astoria FC, added, "This was the type of game that reflects the team's spirit and direction under Limbo. We are thrilled with the result and excited for what's to come."
Astoria FC looks to build on this success as they continue their season under Limbo's leadership.
